  • Emdogain Gains Recognition

    October 27, 1999

Nabeil Sarhan, Body1 Staff. 10/27/99-- Sufferers of periodontal disease have a new weapon in their arsenal. At the recent conference for the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), specialists presented new data in support of the Swedish biopharmaceutical product Emdogain.

Emdogain, an enamel matrix protein used to treat severe periodontitis, has been shown to help regenerate tissues and bone. New data presented at the AAP conference helps to confirm the earlier findings and to further explain Emdogain's action on a cellular level.

Biora, the biotechnology company that produces Emdogain, was encouraged by these new findings and the possibility of wider exposure.

"We believe that there is a growing acceptance of Emdogain in the United States, based on the fact that more than half a dozen periodontal opinion-leaders presented positive results from their clinical experiences with the product," said Biora CEO Tomas Hammargren, in a company press release.

Biora develops and markets products for the treatment of periodontal disease and for use in oral surgery. For more information, visit Biora.
